Kind Words from our Biggest Advocates
Over the past two years I have had the distinct pleasure of working with Cinco Charities. They have housed a significant number of my patients as they received their cancer treatment here at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Katy. The housing they provide has been indispensable to our patients from the far western suburbs of Katy, as these patients have no other option when it comes to receiving quality cancer care. It would be safe to say that without the services that Cinco Charities provides, a number of my patients would not have had the resources to have their cancer treated at MD Anderson, and would probably have perished as a result.
This is a wonderful group that provides a critical resource to patients receiving health care in the Katy area, and I personally choose to support their mission both financially and programmatically in a serious manner.
- Gregory Chronowski, M.D., Associate Professor, MD Anderson Cancer Center
On behalf of MD Anderson in Katy, please accept this letter of reference for Cinco Charities, Inc., and the stellar team that leads this organization. The Cinco Charities team works diligently to provide free housing for critically ill patients in the Katy area. For the past few years, Cinco Charities has served many of my patients. Cinco provides assistance regardless of financial need, and therefore they are able to accommodate patients quickly and with minimal disturbance to their treatment schedule. In fact, I’ve had occasions where we’ve placed one call and housing was fully arranged by the very next day. Every patient who has worked with Cinco has been amazed by the compassion and professionalism demonstrated by their staff. Without their generosity and support, these patients would not have been able to complete their treatment here at MD Anderson.
Ginger Hopper and her team are intimately involved in every aspect of the referral process. Not only do they provide patients with a home away from home, they also go above and beyond to lend additional support throughout the patients’ stay. I’ve met nearly all of the Cinco Charities board members, and it is very clear that their work at Cinco is a labor of love for each and every one of them. We are honored to partner with Cinco Charities and look forward to expanding our collaboration as they develop their new facility.

This letter is in reference to Cinco Charities, who has been a critical supporter of our patients here at the MD Anderson Regional Care Center in Katy, Texas. Having recently been reassigned to our MD Anderson Regional Care Center in Sugar Land, I have so missed having an organization like Cinco for our patients in the Sugar Land area. Not only are they so incredibly reliably and responsive to our patients' needs in Katy, there seems to be no limits to their eagerness to provide as many services and assistance whenever a need arises. Cinco Charities is such a wonderful asset to us in the care of our cancer patients.
Being diagnosed with cancer can be a very stressful time for patients, especially when they are coming from far away for treatment. Cinco has eased the burden of concern for so many individuals and families, which is absolutely invaluable. The organization is one-of-a-kind, and we at MD Anderson Katy are so fortunate to have developed a relationship with them. As well, our patients are grateful, I'm certain, to have benefitted from their kindness and generosity. We fully support Cinco Charities in their efforts to continue to expand and provide hope and care for our cancer patients at MD Anderson Katy.
- Susan Hoover, Breast Surgical Oncologist, MD Anderson Cancer Center
As the manager of community relations for MD Anderson Cancer Center, please accept my sincerest support for Cinco Charities, Inc. I have worked with Cinco Charities for the past three and a half years. They are an amazing group of individuals who work tirelessly to serve the Katy community by providing free housing for individuals that are suffering from critical medical conditions. They work very closely with our social worker in Katy to assist our patients in as seamless a process as possible. Their dedication is unmatched.
Cinco Charities passionately pursues additional funding to further their mission, organizing several fundraising events per year. I can attest that this is a resource intensive endeavor, often at the expense of these individuals’ own real estate business. MD Anderson will continue to provide financial support to Cinco Charities. It is an honor to serve the Katy community alongside this team. We anxiously await the opportunity to provide support services at their new facility.
- Annie Starkey, Program Manager, MD Anderson Cancer Center
Cinco Charities has been an absolute godsend for our patients at MD Anderson in Katy! Many of our patients come to us from outlying counties with few resources, facing a frightening cancer diagnosis and demanding treatment course, leaving them at their most vulnerable. When I tell them there is a program available to house them at no cost while they are being treating, you can literally see a huge burden being lifted from their hearts and minds as they can now focus on their treatments rather than the many complications involved in trying to travel long distances and come up with the funds to do so. Many thanks to Cinco Charities and the fantastic people who volunteer their time and money to provide an invaluable resource to our patients and their families!
